Dear Naveen and Sudha, It has been a very pleasant experience visiting your school. I absolutely love the design and the ambience of the school. I am sorry the students were not here today. I really admire the passion that both of you have and I am sure the school will go places under your guidance.
Thanks for all the information you have given me, and wish you all the best. May you have a long long time here and may the school grow from strength to strength. God Bless!

There is a huge need in society today for thinking people with a long term focus to work in education. At the same time, when such people actually try to get into the field, they face many obstacles because quality is still not completely understood and appreciated yet. Under these circumstances, it is only a highly determined, highly committed fraction who are able to stay on, persist and eventually succeed. I have known Naveen and the efforts of Headstart (now HLC) for some years now – they are also a valued partner with us in Educational Initiatives. HLC ‘s commitment to individualized learning and quality of the education are both commendable and I really respect Naveen and HLC for that!

Thank you for the time and showing me around your beautiful school. It truly is a transformation since the first stone a year ago. It stands out and always will – for educational pedagogy, active learning, and student friendly approach. The interior and exterior are well suited for study and research purposes. Cambridge offers different study options and glad to see many syllabi (16) offered at HLC. My congratulations to Mrs and Mr Mahesh, Mr Naveen, the family at HLC, the students and teachers for making this an international school. We are very proud to be associated with your school. Best wishes.

Dear Naveen Uncle,
Through the 10 years that I have spent at HLC, there has always been one thing that HLC has been true to – “Learning without Limits”. As the name suggests, students here believe in learning through methods that are not enclosed within the four walls of a classroom, thereby not only extending the student’s learning curve, but also making the entire concept of learning as one that is filled with curiosity and fun.
In addition, life at HLC is one that is filled with opportunities for students. I will be forever grateful to all the teachers who not only made me realise, but also helped me in grabbing every opportunity with both hands.
The last 10 years at HLC has not only improved me as who I am, but has also resulted in making friendships that will last a lifetime. Everyone at HLC – The teachers, students, Sudha Aunty, Mahesh Uncle and even the support staff are all part of one BIG family .

Dear Naveen Uncle,
One of the best parts of HLC is the learning environment. Here, the student believes in learning from beyond the book. Extending the learning curve as much as possible and pushing boundaries through various learning methods. It makes learning as such that much more exciting.
Although my time at HLC was short it was a period which I will never forget in my life. I grew both as a student and as a person and my friends became my family. We graduated successfully and completed high school after a long journey even though the paths were different for all of us.
The school nurtured me and helped me develop my ideas. I am proud to have been a part of this school and it will always hold a special place in my heart along with the friends I have made here.

I have studied in HLC since LKG and the school has played a vital role in building me from ground zero. Even after 14 years of the same place, I still can’t get enough of it – I’m in school so often even after graduating; it’s just because I can’t come to terms with the fact that my time here is up. At least as a student it is.
Having had quite a hectic schedule primarily revolving around my sporting endeavours, my time allotted for academics was limited to the classrooms. Everyone in HLC fully understood this and went out of the way to accommodate me – rescheduling tests, doubt clarification sessions etc. Missing classes due to tournaments was inevitable but the teachers let me progress at my own pace, never once doubting whether I would be done with my portions in time. They gave me the motivation I needed and whatever little I have been able to achieve is attributed to my teachers.
I have always been fiercely competitive and through countless discussions with numerous people, I’ve accepted that ‘Pursuit of Excellence’ is what creates something great rather than just a race to the top. At HLC while healthy competition is supported, we are more often encouraged to compete with ourselves. To be the best version of myself is what I strive for now. The confidence that I’ll be able to make an impact in the world comes from the opportunities that were provided in school – to excel and learn from setbacks.
My time in HLC has been extremely memorable and I would do it all over again if I got a chance to, without changing a thing! Signing off with a deep sense of gratitude.

Life at HLC was very different for me. “Help is provided at HLC for those who ask for it”. This quote is apt in how I would define HLC. Throughout my time here, any idea that a student had was encouraged and quite often blossomed into an extraordinary initiative.
At HLC, I was introduced to more than just what a school was rather I discovered how a school should be. In fact calling it a school would not be justified because it facilitates a multidimensional approach to learning. Calling it a social incubation centre sounds more appropriate or so I have learnt throughout my time here.
Raji aunty and Naveen uncle have been great mentors to me and I know their advice and guidance will be available to me at all phases in my life. HLC made it a point to educate people that life is beyond competition but rather a pursuit for excellence. The idea and spirit for Brihaspati (the inter-school debate conference) stems from this and I am forever grateful to HLC for making it happen.
I could go on forever about HLC but if I were to say one more thing, might as well end it in a quote. “HLC is not the place but the people that make it feel like home.” Thank you HLC for incubating my leadership and public speaking skills. I am very excited to see what the future holds for me and it hurts that I have to move on.

Memories. So long as they are remembered, they are our connection between past, present and future, and between people. Memories do fade over time, however those which have an impact in our lives stay in our minds – and hearts. Throughout my 6 years at HLC I’ve made my fair share of everlasting – as well as faded – memories. Each one of them have played a part in helping me tread my path. HLC has an atmosphere and environment that allows us to find who we are and make our own paths. There are numerous things that I can talk about, but for someone who believes in make her own destiny, the fact that I was able to do that at HLC – with the support from everyone – is something I truly cherish.

Dear Naveen uncle and Raji aunty,
Here are my thoughts:
I’ve breathed the HLC air for so long that I cannot even pinpoint certain aspects in which HLC has impacted me. Truth is, HLC has changed me and morphed me into a whole new person. A confident, open- minded and self- motivated version of myself that I never thought could come to existence.
The thing with my school is that it pours rains of opportunity down at us constantly in the hope that at one point, the student sheds the fear of getting soaked wet and begins to raise her hands to catch the rain. That’s when people like me learn to embrace life and grow. By the end of the school life in HLC, you’d discover who you are and that is the greatest gift anyone can receive.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. This quote is what brought me to HLC, waiting to be nurtured into a more confident and headstrong being. I fit in well with my peers and learnt to accept their way of life. As I hailed from a simple background I held strong ideologies about how an international school would be like, but I kept it to myself. I watched in shame and pride as the staff and the people around, proved me wrong. It is in HLC that I understood the art of true hard work and determination that gave me the strength to move forward and face other battles that lay ahead for me.
With the help of my teachers (to whom I still owe a lot) and of course the constant support of my parents and friends, I not only survived, but lived through a stormy year of my life and came out victorious. On my journey, I learnt to respect every form of being, every creation of god and to understand the true meaning of disability.
We all have disabilities, and the only way we can come to such a conclusion is to work and play with the Elina kids. I have encountered some harsh realities in life where people believe that the differently abled, both mentally and physically, have known only to be dependant. This reality of mine was deeply reconstructed as I joined HLC. The big bad world suddenly became a place where hope could bloom. It is through them that I developed an infuriatingly optimistic attitude to life and the art of patience .
This school, being a close knit community brought out the 5 year old kid in me and let me live again. Because living this life, is much more valued that surviving. I would love to thank all my superiors who are to my great pleasure, my friends and family for giving me an important lesson not only for my studies or exams, but also for life.
I am ever grateful for what you’ve done, and will never forget a second of this journey. I only hope that I get to relive this journey once more someday.

I’ve been at HLC for very long now and my IGCSE years were the most memorable. Everything seemed hard to do at first, when HLC switched from ICSE to IGCSE. At the time, I thought, “These lessons are too complicated, I hope that the exams aren’t difficult as well”.
But very soon after, I started to pick up this curriculum too, thanks to my teachers. I feel extremely fortunate to have studied this many years at HLC and also about opting for IGCSE. In my experience, HLC has been a school with a VERY BIG DIFFERENCE, it is a one-of-a-kind school, and I’m very grateful to the faculty and everyone here.

My experience at HLC was really great. The students were all really nice to me and the teachers were good too. HLC cares about every student, and I really felt that in my classes. It seemed like the teachers actually cared whether I did well or not, which was a huge change from my previous experiences. The teachers and their teaching styles are devoted to making the knowledge easy to understand and take in for every student, which means that all the students have the opportunity to succeed. The students are able to be themselves and work at their own pace; this attitude towards learning also means that HLC is inclusive when it comes to children with learning difficulties. Overall, my experience was positive and it was a shame to leave.

“Writing a testimonial for HLC is harder than I first thought – not because of lack of content but rather, too much of it! My association with the school goes back a long way to a time when I was one of four kids in the Kottivakkam school and I was one of the first to pass out of the school. The best testimonial I can offer is to honestly say that HLC and its teachers have moulded me in more ways than one. Teachers at HLC are called ‘Aunty’ and ‘Uncle’ but to me, they were truly my second family, my foster parents, my support system even today.
At HLC, it was not academic knowledge alone that I received. I received an education. I wasn’t taught Physics and History alone. I learnt tolerance, acceptance, teamwork and self-confidence. Though I’ve been to different schools both before and after, HLC will always be my school. Just like every other student, I was, am and always will be a proud Headstarter!”

Abhay joined HLC in LKG and has completed 12th grade in 2019 – fourteen most important formative years. We’ve witnessed his organic transformation through these years from an extremely naughty, careless boy in primary school turning into an assertive, confident person as he steps out of HLC in 2019. The teachers & staff of HLC have been the catalysts in this transformation, ably supported by the carefully nurtured HLC ecosystem.
As an avid sports lover, Abhay had never been serious about academics – not in the way he was with Basketball and Athletics. It would be unfair to just say that he was ‘allowed’ to pursue his passion ; rather, HLC encouraged him in every possible manner by not just being flexible with the time he would reach school after his morning sessions, but also ensuring that he caught up with the classes missed due to races and tournaments. The facilitation at HLC ensured that he stepped up and enjoyed the self- paced learning. Thanks to this unconditional support and learner – centric approach, he did not feel the need to stop or reduce the focus on his interests outside school. We hardly ever sought external help for academics – HLC’s teachers ensured that he got grades good enough to get into New York University with full scholarship.
The support extended by the HLC family has been tremendous – especially evident during the last two years of AS and A level curriculum, which is quite deep and demanding. The camaraderie with teachers and others at HLC is such that he never felt like missing even a day of school. Even after passing out of HLC, he continues to be engaged with the school in different initiatives – thanks to HLC for providing these ‘off curriculum’ opportunities for the students to polish other aspects of their personality.
We’re fortunate to have discovered HLC!

Dear Raji and Naveen,
Thank you very much for your time today. My special thanks to Mahesh Uncle and Sudha Aunty. I request you to continue to mentor Laya and guide her through her further education and life.
I have just penned a few words on our experience at HLC:
From having difficulty in getting admission for 3rd grade to getting admission in Symbiosis College;
From being in the “slow learning group” to achieving A* in Cambridge A Level;
From difficulty in reading/writing to getting an article published in a Newspaper;
From being disinterested in sports to becoming a house captain and coming runner up;
From being shy and timid to being able to play Elphaba boldly in the School Play;
It just proves Sudha Aunty’s words that “Children can do wonders given the space and time”.
Thank you HLC for all the timely interventions which lead to the holistic growth of Laya.
with warm regards,
The best part of the education at HLC is that students learn to become self-taught themselves. In all honestly I can confess that neither I or Chaithanya’s mother have sat beside him to teach him. Other than his early early years (which was before HLC) we left him to himself when it came to studies. Unless there was a dire need to help we never intervened. Till the 12’th Grade he almost worked on his own.
Subash S L (Chaithanya’s Dad)
When we took the decision to put our daughter, Aayushi into an International School following the Cambridge University syllabus after 10 years of CBSE based schooling, we did so with the knowledge that things would not be easy for her. We also were swayed by her enthusiasm in opting to be different. A visit to the school premises and brief interactions with the Principal, Director and faculty allayed whatever little doubts we had as to the process that would be followed in ensuring a productive two years at the school. The first year was admittedly tough for all concerned, what with our daughter taking her own time in finding the ropes. There were occasions when we had our misgivings about the pressure she was under and whether it was really worth it. It was at this stage that the experience, involvement and encouragement of the entire school faculty came to the fore and combined as one in gently but firmly guiding her through a challenging phase of her schooling. That she came through with flying colours can largely be attributed to the skill with which the school identified her weak areas and the manner in which it was corrected, Today, if we see a confident, enthusiastic and mature individual capable of making level headed decisions in all walks of life, the credit must, to a large extent, go to her two years at HLC International which shaped not just her thought process but her personality as well. We as parents would like to thank all of you at HLC for the tireless efforts in recognising her for what she was and helping in shaping what she is today.Please continue in your exceptional contributions towards shaping the future of this country.

When we moved back to India, like may other parents, our biggest fear was finding the right school for our child, especially since he would be starting afresh in a new environment and also in upper middle school. After lots of research during our many visits to India, we finalized on three schools and reached out to all of them.
We then selected HLC from among these. From day 1, HLC has given us the warmth that we needed to move forward with our plans. From the onboarding process, to the one-on-one attention the children get and helping us parents to connect with and understand the strength of our child, the school administration and the student coordinators have exceeded our expectations. Now, having spent 4 wonderful years with the school, I can confidently recommend HLC to anyone looking to give their kids a positive learning experience.
Congratulations HLC on the achievements so far and I wish with all my heart for this wonderful leadership to continue FOREVER.

We greatly enjoyed our visit to HLC yesterday, to demonstrate Argentine tango to the children. Everyone was lovely, and the children were adorable. We were impressed on every level, from your creative solution to the dance floor dilemma, to the facility, to the students, to the intelligence and thoughtfulness of the curriculum.
Being involved in education ourselves, we found the openness of the curriculum refreshing. It recognizes that each child comes with their own strengths and weaknesses, and that a standardized focus on “outcomes” ultimately keeps the students from developing to their full potentials.
There is a generous spirit that pervades the school and the staff. You are engaged in a noble endeavor…what fortunate children! They are clearly in good hands.
